Lesson 2: Your Birthright, and the One Who Moves First

What if hearing God's voice isn't something we have to earn, but something we already have a right to by belonging to him? That single shift in perspective changes everything. This message takes us on a journey away from what might be called the 'religious reflex' -- the deeply ingrained human tendency to treat our relationship with God as a ladder to climb rather than a relationship to inhabit. Drawing on the imagery of sheep who recognize their shepherd's voice in John 10, we are reminded that God calls each of us by name -- not as a crowd, but as individuals. The difference between reading a biography and keeping an appointment captures something essential: we can know a great deal about God without actually knowing God. The invitation here is to stop settling for the biography and start showing up for the conversation. Hearing God's voice is not an achievement to be unlocked through spiritual effort. It is a birthright that belongs to us the moment we belong to him.
