This passage calls children to obey and honor their parents "in the Lord," while challenging fathers (and all parents) not to provoke their children but to bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

There's something profoundly beautiful about the way God designed families to work. Not just as biological units sharing the same last name, but as spiritual incubators where faith is caught as much as it's taught. The relationships between parents and children aren't merely about keeping order in the home—they're about displaying something far greater: the very nature of God's kingdom.
