Lesson 1: Introduction

What if the greatest privilege we have as human beings is simply a conversation? Not a formal petition, not a negotiated transaction, but an actual, living, back-and-forth exchange with the God who created us. That is the heart of what we explore in this message. Drawing from Jesus's own words in John 10:27, where he declares that his sheep hear his voice and know him, we are confronted with a truth that should reshape everything about how we approach our faith. God is not silent. He has not withdrawn into the distance of heaven, too occupied with holding the universe together to speak to us. He is a communicator by nature, and we were created to be on the receiving end of that communication. The message challenges us to examine the walls we have built, often out of well-intentioned caution, that have ended up keeping out the very voice we were designed to hear. Religion has too often taught us to keep God at arm's length, treating his transcendence as a reason for distance rather than recognizing that the same God who said 'let there be light' is the God who wants to sit with us in the quiet of an ordinary morning.
