Session 8: Daniel
Session 8: Daniel
What does it take to remain faithful when everything around us seems to pull us away from God? The book of Daniel gives us a powerful answer through the story of a young man who refused to compromise his faith, even when taken captive into a godless empire. At just sixteen years old, Daniel found himself in Babylon, surrounded by a culture that celebrated everything opposed to his beliefs. Yet instead of blending in or giving up, he established a pattern that would define his entire life: fully depending on God, faithfully following His commands, and finding favor as a result. What's remarkable is that Daniel's first stand wasn't against some massive injustice or dramatic persecution. It was simply about what he ate. This seemingly small decision to honor God's dietary laws became the foundation for a lifetime of courageous faith. The lesson for us is profound: faithfulness in the little things prepares us for faithfulness in the big things. We live in our own Babylon today, where our culture, education system, media, and entertainment constantly work to reshape our identity and compromise our convictions. Like Daniel, we're called to draw lines in the sand, to depend on God's provision rather than the world's offerings, and to use whatever favor and influence we have for His kingdom. The beautiful truth is that when we remain faithful in small, private moments of obedience, God positions us for greater kingdom impact than we could ever imagine.
