Session 4: The Blessing -- Speaking Life Into the Next Generation

What does it mean to truly bless the people we love? This session takes us deep into one of the most overlooked yet powerful practices in all of Scripture: the spoken blessing. From the very first chapter of Genesis, where God created humanity and immediately blessed them, to the patriarchs who passed blessings down through generations, the Bible is saturated with this intentional act of speaking life, value, and destiny over others. We explore five essential elements of a meaningful blessing, including the power of meaningful touch, spoken words of affirmation, attaching high value to a person, picturing a special future for them, and making an active commitment to stand behind them. These are not empty rituals. They are the very things our children, grandchildren, and neighbors are desperately hungry for. Research and real-world experience remind us that many people sitting in broken circumstances today never once heard someone say, I am glad you are mine. When we understand that our words carry the power to either bless or curse, we begin to take seriously the call to be intentional about what we speak over the people in our lives. This is not just a parenting principle. It is a kingdom principle with eternal consequences.
