SEEKING GOD

Promises: a 40-day devotional

DAY ELEVEN

God’s Promise:
I will make you very productive.

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. - John 15:5 (NLT)

All of us want to be productive and successful in our lives. We want to be a winner in our careers, our relationships, and in our walk with the Lord. It can all be so overwhelming, frustrating, and exhausting as we try to produce good outcomes in our own strength. Many times, we end up feeling utterly defeated.

But God offers a different way. The quality and quantity of what we produce is directly linked to the source of our production. Our strength can only produce what is temporary. But when we rely on His strength, He produces the fruit of His Kingdom that lasts.

God promises that if we depend completely on Him, allowing Him to be our source of strength, He will do the producing and it won’t be just a little, but “much!”

Action Step:
I will abide in Jesus. I will stay close to Him. I will rest in knowing I am connected to the vine that gives me all I will ever need.
