2.     What is the Meaning of Life?

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
Is anything worth more than your soul? (Matthew 16:26)

Life is a gift from God. None us know exactly how long we have on earth, but we all want to make our life count. Since life is a gift from God, that means we are responsible to God. And he desires that we have a meaningful life. We live in an amazing world, but often we can experience distractions, disappointment, confusion, pain, and brokenness. But as we seek God, we find that he is involved in the details of our life and desires to guide us through life as we trust him.
We were created ultimately to bring God glory. That is our, our purpose in life is to give worth to God by knowing and loving him personally and pointing others to do the same. God created each of us uniquely and placed us in history and geography for a reason. He desires for each of us to enter into a relationship with him by faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection on behalf of our sins. As we believe in Jesus, we experience forgiveness of our sins and receive the Spirit of God. This transformation helps provide the foundation for a meaningful life.
Outside of a connection with God, we can fill our lives with many things that will never bring lasting peace and joy. We see people all around us caught up in the pursuit of happiness through things like possessions, power, prominence, and relationships. However, these things do not truly satisfy and can be lost in an instant. If we aim for personal happiness, we will miss it every time. But if we aim to personally honor God, we will find that true joy comes as a result.
Becoming a child of God through faith in Jesus secures us a place in God’s kingdom. As we live to please God, we find joy from being used by God for a purpose much greater than ourselves. When we experience heartache, we can rest knowing that God has prepared a better place for us in eternity in a place the Bible calls heaven where one day every tear will be wiped away and we will dwell with God unhindered by the presence of sin. So make it your aim to bring honor and worth to God through your daily living.
