SEEKING GOD

Promises: a 40-day devotional

DAY SIXTEEN

God’s Promise:
I will fulfill My good and perfect plan.

You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. - Proverbs 19:21 (NLT)

It is often jokingly said that if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. However, the truth of the matter is that the Lord calls us to submit our plans to His. His plans for our lives are far greater and sweeter than we could ever dream up on our own.

His divine perspective is perfect. In fact, if you could see the entirely of your life from God’s point of view, the plan He has for you is the very plan you would choose. We simply need to daily lay our plans at His feet and submit ourselves to His perfect will.

How do we do this? Just as Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane on the night of His betrayal, “Father, not My will but Yours be done.” Because God’s will is always best, this simple, yet powerful prayer is our best response in every situation.

His ways are not our own; they are so much better! Even though we can’t see what lies in our future, we can trust His will because He holds the future. Each day we surrender our will to His, we walk in His perfect and unshakable plans. What an opportunity we have to submit to His purpose today to walk in His perfect will.

Action Step:
I will submit my plans to the Lord’s unfailing purposes, surrendering to His good and perfect will for my life.
