Make Every Effort

Peter opens his letter with the reminder that the ability to live a life of godliness comes through the divine power of God at work within us. He encourages by teaching them, God is a God of great glory and great excellence and in Him are very great and precious promises. He then shifts his instruction to the consistent teaching of the New Testament that growth in godliness requires effort on the part of the Christian. God is doing the work even as we work.
